The Temporary Nurse Aide Course is No Longer Available

The TNA training program is no longer being offered due to CMS ending the federal waiver that allowed for its utilization. If you have passed the TNA course, email educate@ahca.org to request an electronic copy of your certificate be sent to you.

Through our facility members, a hybrid training course (partially online and partially on-site) remains available through CNAonline powered by Academic Platforms. To see if this option is available in your state, visit CNAonline.com

After confirming that your state accepts CNAonline training, you can use our search feature to locate skilled nursing facilities or assisted living communities in your area.

QUESTIONS ABOUT STATE REQUIREMENTS?

As of October 6th 2022, the waiver that allowed the temporary nurse aide was discontinued by CMS on a national level.  However, since then, some states have been successful in getting the waiver, for their state only, extended. These are state specific waivers that are allowing extra time to get TNAs transitioned to CNAs.  It is not the same as using the time to bring on new TNAs. This is a transition window period where TNAs are supposed to be transitioning to CNAs.

Contact your state nurse aide registry for additional information about your state’s requirements. This Directory of Nurse Aide Registries provides contact information by state.
